Open vertical sagittal fracture patella with fracture lateral condyle femur: approach to a rare injury
Patellar fracture is a relatively uncommon fracture especially the vertical sagittal type. In cases of high energy trauma injury, it is usually associated with fracture of ipsilateral distal femur or proximal tibia. However, the combination of vertical sagittal fracture patella and ipsilateral fracture lateral condyle is very rare. This necessitates judicious diagnosis and appropriate managemen...

Acute necrotizing esophagitis, also known as “black esophagus”, represents an infrequent and rarely suspected clinical entity. However, a growing number of cases have been reported worldwide since it was first described in 1990. This condition develops associated with severe concomitant diseases and is believed to be related to a transient poor esophageal perfusion. On endoscopy, it consists of...

Paget's disease of bone is a benign disease characterized by exaggerated remodeling of the bone matrix after osteoclast-mediated bone destruction. Its etiology is still unknown, despite the fact that it was discovered and described in 1877, but genetic factors and environmental triggers were shown to play their part in the pathogenesis of the disease. The main clinical presentations of the dise...

متن کاملAnaesthetic management of a patient with dilated cardiomyopathy for fracture femur surgery-a case report.
Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is defined as impairment of the ventricular function of the myocardium. The management of a patient with dilated cardiomyopathy, who undergoes a non-cardiac surgery, is always a challenge for an anaesthesiologist, as this situation is associated with a high mortality rate. We are reporting the successful anaesthetic management of a patient with severe dilated cardio...
